time to go to the dentist?

it's a good thing i like to laugh. and at myself.
i feel like usually i'm pretty quick. brad is FULL of cheesy jokes and one liners and anything you'd find in on a laffy-taffy wrapper. i've heard them all.

there is one, however, that i have NEVER understood. he says it ALL the TIME. for the last year and a half i've heard it, pretended i got the joke, smiled & shook my head.
i didn't get it. i figured either he or i was really stupid.

don't worry, it was me.

so i had to go to the dentist the other day. we're driving in the car and suddenly i BURST out laughing.... i suddenly realized what ALL THIS TIME his stupid joke meant!! hahahahahah

2:30 is the time you go to the dentist. "tooth hurty." 2:30. tooth. hurty. baha!

something about laughing at others' pain....

so we've been saving for a new computer. brad's finally died dead.
we bought this AWESOME NEW computer for a STEAL- two of our "computer geek" friends were tripping out at what a great deal we got. it finally came & we got around to REALLY setting it up last night & tonight.

there is no sound.
no sound.
and it's not us. or the wires...... hmmmmm.. hard to watch hulu with no sound... this is a problem...

poor lil computer. born mute. like batteries not included, kinda.

so we called the tech support hotline.
the first guy he talked to (this is just me overhearing) sounded like "abed" like the guy from community. no, it was mohammed. i can dig it.

second time we called i SWEAR the guy's name was "oobee." which consequently made me go "HE HE!" have you seen that show? hilarious.

brad's probably sending the computer back. lame. but it's not often we get to called india TWICE in a day; we're so cultural :)

a week later.. a family visit!!!

crazy week!! so much to update!

last weekend we packed it in! my brother & sister in law, Todd & Shelly, came to visit CA with their two RIDICULOUSLY cute girls, Rachel & Ashley! T&S even escaped to LA for most of the day Saturday, so Brad & I got to play with the girlies all by ourselves. they were the model children: cute, funny, good, happy- we baked bread, ran errands, went swimming, played at the park, & went to the beach all together! :) lucky uncle brad & aunt lindsey! we had a BLAST & it was so fun to have them here! thanks for visiting!!
if you wanna see a better (and much cuter) summary of the weekend see Shelly's blog here.

I didn't want to get any of her clothes in the pool so we made a "dress" out of a tank top of aunt lindsey's. pretty darn cute, i'd say!
frolicking!
my husband, the beach model.
i HAD to post this picture bc todd & i look strangely related, when usually i'd say we don't look so much alike...
ashley's first try at putting her feet in the sand... she loved it.
run! run!
awwwww.. sleeping people...
playing with uncle brad is so much fun! he loved it...
the great lunch debate.
aunt lindsey's assistant baker... so cute in that little apron hehe
say good bye to uncle brad! (i love this picture, it's just so cute.)
love you guys- you're welcome anytime! :)

spoilt or spoiled?

it's funny when you become a wife:
i think my inner housewife is kinda ashamed right now, but the working busy wife isn't so much. it was bound to happen eventually....

heel of bread, last tablespoon of sour cream, half a serving of pasta, one leaf of lettuce, 1/4 an orange pepper, 7 layer dip (that stuff doesn't last anyway), leftover quinoa, and i think something else i'm forgetting...
they all went bad this week.
it's like the fridge had a pow-wow and decided to rebel all together!

"hey lettuce, you only have, like, one leaf left- i only have, like, 2 tablespoons left- let's mold TOGETHER, dude."

sad but true. apparently we were REALLY good at eating all our food before it went bad when money was tighter. geez you get ONE measly tax return, go out to dinner ONCE, and the fridge food thinks you forgot all about it. or maybe we did.

well, fridgey, you have issued a challenge, i accept. off to the grocery store i go!

team jacob

my husband CRACKS me up. i spend alot of my time at home laughing at him. i always wanted to marry someone entertaining- got it! :)

so brad has "been wanting to see" New Moon. so he went and rented it last night for FHE. in the comfort of my own home i could make all the commentary i wanted- about how i HATE edward, how horrible actors they are, and how dra-ma-TIC everything is. i think he learned his lesson bc i definitely made an effort to ruin the movie for him. ;)
highlights of the movie being all the times edward WASN'T in the movie, and when my husband said "yeah, jacob's pretty hot. he looks good wet." you can bet i immediately sent that quote out mass-text style to friends & family. ha. conclusion: i can never get those hours back, but i really enjoy laughing with my husband.

Easter!

This Saturday, the Easter bunny came to our house in between General Conference sessions. He even hid my candy & presents all over our living room for me to hunt.

This year he brought me a KITE!!!! Oh frabjous day! Calooh! Callay!

Brad & I thought the Easter bunny was pretty smart, thanked him, then promptly walked to the park & gave it a whirl!

'twas lovely.

Then my darling friend/old roommate Nicole Dinsbach & I made cute headbands & flowers, watched a chick flick & went shopping while our husbands went to the Priesthood session of General Conference. Girl date.

I needed someone to model it for me. Cute headband, right? Pretty Brad.

(my husband voluntarily put this on his head. i love that about him. Also Mustache March apparantly has carried over to April. Mrs. Barttels is starting to think it should leave....)

THEN, the Barttels' and the Dinsbach's heely'd.

Hint: the grocery store is the best place- smooth floors, long aisles, and lots of people to laugh at you. :)

Happy First Easter Mr. & Mrs. Barttels!

(geesh my hair is getting long!)
